one month and one week

just wanted to share that friday was a special day for dustyn and i. it officially marked our one month of being in SD and the end of my first week of work. yay!

it's crazy how time flies. i think i assumed that moving here was going to be a lot harder and i would be more emotional about leaving texas, but it's been fantastic. i think i've grown a lot closer to some of my amazing friends back home. writing emails, talking on the phone, etc. - they aren't things you take advantage of when you live far away. it makes me so excited when i receive an email from one of you or when you call to say "hi" and it turns into an hour and a half long phone call.

dustyn and i have talked about this whole concept a lot lately - about how when you move away, you become even closer to some people or you slowly drift away from others. sure, it's only been a month, but i can definitely tell that God is amazing and He's working on sustaining and building our friendships back home. it's even more amazing to hear about how your lives are changing back in tejas.

i just wanted to say thanks for taking joy in reading this blog, for writing comments, emails, or picking up the phone to say "hi". it means a lot.

i had a long conversation with nicole today during lunch about why we moved here. i think it all boils down to wanting to be challenged, strengthening our marriage by having to completely depend on one another, and creating our own identity. it was nice to talk to her about moving (fyi: she moved here from new hampshire about 6 or 7 years ago.). her mother didn't support her move here, but despite that, she felt like it was something she needed to do to grow. i kind of feel like that in a way. our marriage is growing, our love for God is growing. yay to being here for a whole month now! :)

Have you found out about Vegas yet? I was trying to skim your blogs to see...Sorry I haven't caught up on every word yet. Daniel and I are headed off to his game (10:00) and our flight takes off for Chicago at 7:00 tomorrow morning. I hope you have a great rest of the week.
