- read more: i want to be on top of what good books are coming out... i am really enjoying the twilight series... and now there's a movie of the first book. i want to already have read the 'bestsellers' when the movie comes out.
- finances: our student loans kicked in last month, so dustyn and i have to be more frugal. that's not a bad thing. dustyn handles the finances, which i'm appreciative for, but somewhere along the way, i have to say that i lost sight of still being involved, so we've created a system for me to see what's going on and how we're doing. i'm trying to take more initiative to be involved, though it's something i hate talking/worrying/etc. about.
- per items one and two, we canceled our cable. 2009 should involve less sitting on the couch to watch tv. it can only be for the better to be able to read more and it's expensive. canceling the cable kills two birds with one stone, hypothetically speaking.
- i'm in a wedding in july. the dress looks okay on me, but i'd like to look better in it. quite honestly, i don't want to be angela's 'big bridesmaid'. i feel like i've been trying to work out and i've had a trainer (which is not so great on the finances)... so my goal is to be self-motivated and for dustyn and i to encourage one another. no more trainers. no more sitting around.
- keep in touch with all my Texas friends and family more often. i need to make myself more aware of the time and try to call frequently. just wait... you'll get tired of me!
well, i guess that's the bulk of the resolutions, but i feel like they're really big things. i don't want to set myself up for failure... but i'd like to see improvement throughout the year. so far, so good, i suppose.
we didn't do anything special to celebrate the new year. it was nice to be at home with dustyn and camy...oh, and malden...nicole's dog. she went to san fran for new year's so we had him for 2 days until her roomate rhea came back home.
we hung out with the cole's friday night. they fixed amazing cheese enchiladas (christina is a vegetarian) and then we proceeded to play guitar hero for about 3 hours after dinner. note to self: being a rock star is not alternative career option for me.
yesterday we went over to misty and daniel's house. it was the first time i'd seen them since returning to SD. misty's work is forcing her to take off for a week so she flew to northern cali earlier this morning to be with her best friend. we introduced them to the wii fit and guitar hero. hands down, the best part of the evening is seeing the guys do the hula hooping on the wii. if you haven't seen this game, you should plan to right now. and then put your husband on the board and record a video of it. you'll die laughing.
i forgot to mention that we did see the twilight movie earlier this week. i had a hard time separating myself from the book. they did an ok job of keeping things in sequence, but if something big was messed up, i slammed my hand down on dustyn's leg and said through gritted teeth..."that's NOT what happened." he just kept saying, "forget about the book." i am proud to say that dustyn is now reading twilight. so far, he's enjoying it, but has commented that it's much more targeted to girls. i suppose that's true - maybe reading about how beautiful edward is to bella is a little awkward for dustyn.
no plans so far for today. more cleaning the apartment, taking it easy.
cheers to 2009~
