this is by far the oddest email i've received in a long time. would you be interested in purchasing any old jail cell remnants?
Want to buy a 1939 jail cell? -- $300. How about a jail cell door ($200), jail cell bunk ($150) or a cell sink ($100)?
The San Diego Police Historical Association has been given permission to sell a number of artifacts from the Old San Diego Police Headquarters on Feb. 21 from 8 to 11 a.m.
"As part of the grand, multimillion dollar renovation of the National Register of Historic Places Old San Diego Police Headquarters, our sponsors have graciously allowed the San Diego Police Historical Association first salvage rights to a number of historic 1939 jail cells," says the organization. "Among the items to be sold: jail cell panels, jail cell doors, bunks and sinks. These historic one-of-a kind items are all 70 years old and were used as part of the jail from 1939 until the Old Headquarters closed in 1986.
The Old Police HQ Architectural Salvage is being conducted in conjunction with the Port of San Diego, Terramar Realty, Fehlman-LaBarre Architecture & Legacy Construction.
The items will be sold on a first come, first serve basis. Unsold items will be auctioned to the general public from noon to 3 p.m. with proceeds going to the historical association. For more information call the San Diego Police Historical Association at (619) 726-6151.
