i had a lot of goals for this weekend, and overall, we got a ton accomplished, but boy do i feel like we have a ton to do.
yesterday, i hung out with misty for a couple of hours. her birthday is today so we went to the mall to exchange some of the clothes her husband bought her. he [daniel] did such a great job trying to pick out an outfit for her, but really didn't know her sizes, so she had to exchange most of it. he picked her entire outfit out from anthropologie, her favorite store, so that's where we went. man, oh, man is that store adorable... but expensive. i've never bought anything for myself there. never even gone to the dressing room to try on anything there (until yesterday) because i haven't wanted to tempt myself. clothes, shoes, makeup -- those are definitely my temptations, so it's best if i stay away. since misty had two armfuls to try on, i took in three dresses. they were pretty, but $130 for one dress just doesn't cut it right now. or maybe ever. i am much more of a target, outlet mall kind of girl. i'd rather not pay full price.
after the mall, we went to get pedicures. it was very relaxing to sit there - and yes, that's all i did was sit. i happened to get a chair that didn't have a massage back (which is ok, but would've been nice) and i didn't read magazines. i zoned out and people watched. maybe eavesdropped on a couple of conversations. their lives were much more interesting than mine... haha.
misty dropped me back off at my house around 5 pm and dustyn and i got to work packing. almost everything in our kitchen is now packed (only a few weird, odd shaped crystal pieces, coffee maker, and pots and pans left in there). the office is mostly packed. dustyn still has to work from home, so the computer stuff has to wait. our living room is clean and packed; we need to wrap the big mirrors in bubble wrap and pack the wii. our bedroom and bathroom are both cleaned and packed except for what we need right now. since i only have this week of work left, my next goal is to pack all of my remaining clothes into the dressers (the movers will take them down loaded, just not overloaded) and into suitcases. one of my over-arching goals is to go through the things we've put in our storage closet on the balcony (it's tiny) and get rid of anything unnecessary. i know i have a whole scrapbooking box - is that really necessary? can't i purge some things? i think i'll have time to. if not, it's not a big deal - it's already packed, but i'd just like to be that much more organized.
we took our third load of donations to goodwill today. dustyn and i have really figured out how different we are this time around. i'll be packing a box and he will say, "no, don't do it like that... do it like this." my comeback is, "dustyn, i packed our whole house last time without you. i think i know how to pack." and then, we're figuring out that we both have emotional ties to things - maybe him more so than me. since this is my second time around, i'm just tired of seeing some of these things, knowing that in FIVE years (almost) of marriage, we haven't used them. but, he remembers who gave it to us, or has some reason for keeping things. grrr. maybe next time i will let him move everything and he'll understand how i feel. i'm all about purging and minimalism right now.
we didn't workout yesterday. here is today's workout:
40 minutes on the treadmill: 5 warm up, 30 interval, 5 cool down
total distance in 40 minutes: 2.82 miles (today was definitely a hill/climbing day, but man, did the sprints actually feel great today - it's nice to feel my body improving...)
we did an entire deck of cards for the strength training:
yellow (rows): 55
green (jumping lunges): 55
blue (squats): 74
red (shoulder presses): 62
followed by 4 different ab workouts (scissors, up and downs, crunches, and bicycles). the total ab count was 99 total. i didn't break this down by type.
ok... we are going to a movie. we haven't had any fun time together lately. i'm actually going to go see star trek (or x-men... can't remember which one... hence my excitement level...) with dustyn. it'll be nice to get out of this place for a little while!
until tomorrow....
