Compliments

As I mentioned in a previous post, I've been reading through Harry Potter. Dustyn has been as well, though he's a book behind me. On our recent road trips, he's asked me to read aloud to him from my book to help pass the time. I love doing this because it makes me feel like it's an activity we're doing together versus me just keeping to myself.

I started the beginning of the seventh book last week on our car ride. There's a bit of the book (I'm not spoiling anything. This is a really unimportant part of the book.) where Ron talks about a book he's read about how to get girls to like you. One part of that is complimenting the girl. He does this all throughout the next couple of chapters and sees the girl really appreciate the compliments.

Several days go by after I read all of this to Dustyn. I guess something in his subconscious told him that he should compliment me more. Yesterday morning we woke up, and I took him to work. Some days I do this just because it gives us a few more minutes together and I leave to run errands right away from his work. I threw my hair up in a pony tail because I thought it needed to be washed at some point that day. I didn't put any make-up on, and was overall feeling a little scraggly and under-dressed.

My dear, sweet husband looked at me and said, "Wow, sweetie! Your hair is so straight today!"

That was my compliment. I laughed and said thank you, but inside I was chuckling because of the silly Harry Potter book's effect on my husband.

Oh, Dustyn.

What?! Dustyn used up his compliment in the morning? What ever would he do the rest of the day? haha... sound familiar? ;)
