it's been a while

today marks a month exactly that we've been back in texas. it's kind of crazy. i was about to type what week it was, when i realized that it was probably around a month. what's even more strange is that most things happen on the 22nd for dustyn and i. we started dating on the 22nd, moved on the 22nd, his birthday is on the 22nd. it always seems to reappear.

i spent a while just getting settled again here, and to be quite honest, i've been so busy. SO BUSY. this past weekend, i was in dallas for a shower. i left austin on friday and got back late saturday night. we left early sunday morning to drive to my parents house to have lunch/dinner with them for father's day. this week, we'll see donnie and valla (dustyn's parents) since we didn't get to see them for father's day. i like being busy and having things to do, but i feel like i have little down time.

i've been trying to work out every single day (if i miss a day of working out, i'm trying not to freak out, but mentally, it's hard for me not to when i get focused on something... and it stresses me out). i joined pure austin with anna, and it's so motivating. the gym is such an amazing facility; it's never too busy, there are so many machines (some i've never even seen before in my life), and different types of ellipticals, bikes, and treadmills...so if you're picky, you can choose which type you want. it's awesome. i've been getting more and more into the classes and i'm loving every minute of it. spin has been something i've enjoyed, but boy, the instructors here are incredible. today, i did spin at noon and on my bike, it said i biked 21.3 miles in 54 minutes. one thing that is very motivating for me are the people. they don't just work out once a day - all of them are training for some marathon, iron man, triathalon, etc. they're serious, focused, and they care about being healthy. in a couple of the spin classes i'm learning to love, there are professional cyclists (i'll be looking up one of the guys to see if he's on lance armstrong's tour de france team because he looks SO familiar to me). one of the girls is also a UT athlete; i think i heard that all the athletes get access to the pure austin gym's to work out at and they're supposed to take different classes, etc. i don't know which team this girl is on because she always wears mismatched gear - a UT volleyball shirt with UT rowing shorts. i'll stalk her on the web and let you know. :)

one of the things i'm considering signing up for is a half marathon in january. my goal was previously to be able to run this by my birthday (august 31st) but seeing as it's in the 100s in texas right now, it would be better for me to focus on taking it slow, healthy, and really building up to that 13.1 miles. i'm so nervous about making the commitment to sign up, but i'm anxious to do it as well.

professionally, i am making great strides to start my own business. i posted a facebook status to ask for volunteers to be photographed. i got several responses, and so far, i have four people booked. the first is stephanie and grant's three month old, addison. the second is kind of odd, but i'm up for any challenge... my old trainer, melinda's, dogs hollie and kelsey. the third is another family from our church, the karm's. the fourth is my career advisor and her family (she just had her first baby as well!). i'm trying to figure out what i want my "specialty" to be. what "style" of photos i want to take. do i want to venture into weddings? i'd love to do engagement pictures, but can you do engagement pictures and not the wedding?

we bought the domain for my website. eventually, the website will be http://www.maganslens.com/. i'm looking into getting someone to do the website, but i have SO many photos i need to edit and sort through before starting the website. i am thinking about making simple business cards for now to hand out. my bro-in-law, derryk, suggested i do craigslist ads as well. (he's a pro at craigslist.) i'm trying to find good locations to take pictures; if you know of any awesome places in austin, please send them my way. i want awesome backgrounds, vibrant colors, texture, etc.

ok... i need to get to work editing some photos. if you have any business suggestions, please send my way!

before i go, here's a photo from angela's wedding shower of all the attendees doing her "scary" face...
