30 days until my last day of work.
(yes, that counts weekends too.) can you believe it? time is passing by so quickly. we've really been enjoying our last days in SD while we are here. there are a lot of places we want to go/see before we leave. i am still at work ... later day today than usual, but maybe when i get home, i can post some fun recent pictures for you. :)
as we're [slowly] packing, we're purging and getting rid of so many things that are just unnecessary. for instance, i brought a stack of my interior design magazines and architectural digest that i was never able to read during college. i thought they 'looked cool' and wanted them for decoration as well. now that we're moving back, all i can think of is how stupid it would be to lug this 3 foot high pile of decorative-dust-collecting-magazines back to ATX. every night, it's been a lot of fun. i sit down with and clip articles, pictures, recipes, etc... really anything that inspires me and file it away nicely in our filing cabinet. we're scanning all of our paper documents so we can be "paperless"... but realistically, it's not going to transition completely to paperless before the move, so things are getting nicely filed away until they can be scanned. a stack of 100 pages is much less than 3 feet of magazines. man, it feels good to purge!
speaking of filing and organizing, some of you may know what a pack rat my husband is. dustyn keeps everything... boxes for months because something might go wrong and he might need the original packaging. it's annoying because it takes up so much space, and by the time a few months have passed, i've often forgotten that it's time to discard, and things pile up. well, he's been doing an amazing job scanning/organizing lately. the other night, we were up until 1 or so working away and i was so frustrated because i needed labels and the clear plastic tabs for hanging files in our filing cabinet. he was so distraught over the sudden run to wal-mart (open 24 hours, of course) i wanted to make to get these items. wal-mart is very close to us, so i didn't see that it was a big deal. i just wanted to get completely organized while we were 'in the moment' of doing so, instead of letting it sit there and continue to pile up.
we did make the trip to wal-mart. i got the labels and tabs i needed and a few extra color file folders. man, it felt so, so, so good to go back home and organize (and color code) everything!
if you need to de-clutter your life, i highly suggest moving!
leaving work now... pictures to come tonight. xoxo
