frustrations

today, our movers showed up four hours earlier than we expected them to. thank goodness, most of what we needed to have done was finished. there were a few minor things that we had questions about and the movers cleared up the confusion. our apartment is now empty. it echoes. dustyn still has to work for the day and a half that we'll be here, so we have two orange fold up chairs - the kind you would take to a game or the beach - sitting in our living room. his computer is hooked up right beside one of the chairs.

we have decided to opt for the apartment complex to clean our apartment; the head maintenance guy quoted us a really low cost for doing so... and frankly, it's probably better for them to do it than for us to spend all day and them still charge us for a clean afterward. it's such a stress reliever on our part. now, we just look forward to leaving thursday at noon.

camy was all out of sorts when the movers first arrived. boxes were going everywhere, things were changing. when they got about halfway done, she finally started to chill out a little. she would sit and watch the two movers go back and forth. the best part, however, was when she hid her bone from the movers. dustyn and i had vacuumed the office, so it was nice and clean. we saw camy walking with her bone in her mouth. next thing we know, we walk back into the office, and there's her bone, sitting in a corner, out-of-sight from the movers. they'd already taken all the boxes from this area, so i guess she thought it was ok to leave her item behind. isn't it funny how she picks up on what's happening?

i received a phone call from jeff at gensler. he wanted to ask me about all the files i set aside to have copied for my personal use. they have to approve them before they copy them for me. well, every gensler employee has their own SD Employee folder. it's where you can store any of your personal information. if i took pictures, sometimes, i would put them in my sd magan folder. it turns out, gensler might not give me copies of these picture files because they're 'editable' as in, not in pdf format. these are pictures i own. my pictures. things i've taken. and now i can't even have copies of them. this is crap. i was fine when they cut off access to my usb drive so i couldn't copy files... and had to put all of them into a separate file to be approved. well, now they're telling me that something that I TOOK i can't take. jeff said, "next time, take these files before you leave." i was trying to do things the honest way, like they asked me to!

other than that, i don't really know what i'm going to do with myself for a day and a half. camy and i took a nice little nap this afternoon. i had nightmares about the move today. when i woke up, i was dreaming about dustyn and i packing our apartment, and just when we thought we were done, two closet doors showed up that we hadn't seen before, and they were stuffed to the brim. the movers were about to arrive and we didn't have enough time. it was an overwhelming dream to wake up to. the headache it's caused me hasn't gone away yet.

dustyn stayed up all night last night working toward a deadline for work. this happened the last time we moved too - they always begin their fiscal year in june, so it's crunch time to wrap things up right now. i don't know how he does it. his eyes are just now glazing over and i'm seeing the first signs of red veins. he's a piece of work - he refuses to let NI down and be the weak link. i really admire him for that.

we need to get all of our food out of the refrigerator; maybe we can deliver it to carie and kelley. when it comes right down to it, i think i'm in shock that the last two months have flown by so quickly. i cannot believe that i'm leaving san diego in a day and a half. crazy.
