update

in summary, this week has been fantastic. very crazy, chaotic, and busy, but fantastic. dustyn and i have been working, slowly, on unpacking our apartment. it's going decently well, but mostly, i've spent my days helping anna pack their apartment. they are going to be living in the same apartment complex as dustyn and i. their move date is today!

it's been awesome to get to have my workout buddy back and to hang out with the people i love. it's also been quite a reality check because hardly anyone from SD has really cared to email, text, or call about anything. i knew this would happen with some people, but for a couple of the others, i'm really shocked.

i'm going to be really scattered with this post, i can tell already... so bare with me.

we've got a list of furniture we're looking for. we've been to ikea, two consignment stores, pottery barn, lacks, rooms to go, ashley furniture, and texas discount furniture. i've only found two things that i might like. not sure if they're what i was looking for yet. we haven't decided to purchase anything yet. i think it's best that we take things slow and not rush into purchases that we aren't crazy about. the big items are a dining table and chairs, a side chair for the living room, night stands for our bedroom, and possibly an ottoman for the living room. i've been searching craigslist religiously, but even for ikea pieces, people are trying to sell them for almost full price; i'd rather go purchase it brand new versus trusting that nothing is wrong with their furniture.

speaking of furniture... one of our movers thought it would be a brilliant idea to stand on our ikea bookshelf to reach something else... again, i said ikea bookshelf. it broke in one area and the mover said he called ikea and the replacement piece is $20, but we have to special order it. he gave us $20. it's kind of a hassle. one of our dressers is also all messed up. it is all cockeyed; we need to take it apart so we can align everything again. other than a few pieces of broken pyrex, there hasn't been anything that's really upset me too much. i can deal with the few things that have been messed up - we have moved 2600 miles in the last year - a few things should not upset me. it's expected to happen.

we were able to find a fantastic deal on a washer and dryer. i have really been wanting to wash clothes and be completely organized, but it's just not happening. the washer/dryer will be delivered today. i'm so excited! yay for clean laundry. :)

as far as our apartment complex goes - i like it, our place is nice and spacious, we get great light, and i really like the layout. however, we submitted a list of fifteen items that need to be fixed. the shower in the master bathroom doesn't have a face plate, so we can't turn on the water; this means we shower in the guest bathroom. we have a leak in the toilet in the guest bathroom, so we have to go to the bathroom in the master bathroom. our island in the kitchen is at almost a 5 degree slope because the laminate countertop doesn't fit over the cabinets below. they used a ton of glue and now it's sloping because it's been wrong for so long. these are just a few of the things going on; so far, no one has come over to fix anything. i'm pretty frustrated because our other place would've been here immediately. i think because they're more lenient here when you move in and out, it will take longer to get them to work on things.

other than focusing on the apartment, we've done fun things too. last night we had a date night with daniel and anna. we went to TGIFriday's for a delicious dinner, then went to see the new pixar movie, UP. it was such a great movie; i mean, yeah, there were things that would never happen (like a man flying away in his house with a bunch of balloons), but it was so sweet. i left that movie really appreciating dustyn. it just so happened that some of our friends we hadn't seen yet were sitting in the row behind us at the movie. we were able to go to their house and see their new puppy boxer, brea. she's all white, with a little bit of black around her eyes. she's precious.

ok, well for now, this is it. we need to get a bit more unpacked to prepare for the washer/dryer delivery before we help daniel and anna move.

I highly recommend checking out the pottery barn outlet in San Marcos. You can get some great furniture there for good prices
(for pottery barn that is... still more expensive than some other places!)
